VIENNA: Austrian police confirmed Saturday that the dead bodies of four people were recovered after a small plane crashed in western part of Austria. According to the authorities, the plane crashed near Gruenau im Almtal in the province of Upper Austria.
A search operation was carried out after plane wreckage was found in the mountainous region, which had seen heavy snowfall, local media reported.

Police said a probe has been opened into the mishap, with the cause of the accident as well as the final destination of the aircraft still unknown. As per the media reports, the 4 victims could not immediately be identified.

Austrian news agency APA cited, the Aviation Safety Network website as saying that a small plane had taken off from Pribram airport in the Czech Republic and was flying to Medulin in Croatia.
