NEW DELHI: A fatal accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Bichhiya area, situated in Mandla district, India resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives, including five women, with around 20 others sustaining injuries, local media reported on Thursday.
A local police officer speaking to media via phone confirmed the deaths. The incident occurred when the vehicle, carrying passengers returning from a pre-wedding ceremony nearby, overturned after the driver lost control.
The injured were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, with reports indicating that some are in critical condition. Police official expressed fear that the death may rise. The victims, all hailing from the same village, were returning from the celebratory event when tragedy struck, casting a pall over their community.
