16m Acres to be Brought under Wheat Cultivation in Punjab: Minister

FAISALABAD: Provincial Caretaker Minister for Agriculture SM Tanveer on Thursday said that 16 million acres of land is being brought under wheat crop cultivation during the current season in Punjab.

Addressing a farmer outreach and student affairs programme at University of Agriculture Faisalabad, he said that the support price of 40kg wheat has been fixed at 4,000 rupees by the Punjab government.

Bringing maximum land under wheat crop cultivation

He urged the farmers to bring maximum land under wheat crop cultivation and earn handsome profits.

The minister further said that the Punjab government is taking effective steps for ensuring protection of interests of farmers across in the province.

He said that the farmers out-reach programme is providing technical support to farmers.

He also distributed certified seed bags of wheat among the participating farmers free of cost.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, faculty members, students and officers of agriculture department were also present on the occasion.
