JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Observatory on Israel’s crimes against Palestinians has released its weekly report according to which 253 Palestinians have been killed in 26 separate massacres by the occupation forces from April 30 to May 06, 2024. Around 476 others were wounded in these massacres.
The OIC’s weekly report said that despite international opposition and ongoing diplomatic efforts to cease their aggression against the Gaza Strip, Israeli occupation forces have initiated a ground operation in Rafah. This action is proceeding despite numerous warnings from international bodies regarding the potential for catastrophic loss of life and widespread famine.
The OIC Media Observatory further stated that the total number of Palestinian casualties since October 07, 2023, has now reached to 35,233.
The report stated that Israeli settlers, in the Gaza Strip, have attacked two Jordanian aid convoys. One assault targeted 31 trucks at the Beit Hanoun crossing, while the other targeted a convoy of 48 trucks on the Kerem Shalom crossing road. These trucks were transporting vital humanitarian aid, including food and flour.
Referring to a joint report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), it was stated that severe damage was inflicted by Israeli aggression on Gaza’s health and education infrastructure.
Over the past seven months, Israeli airstrikes have completely destroyed 79,000 homes and partially damaged 370 others, the report said adding the estimated cost of reconstruction stands at $40 billion, with a projected completion timeline of up to 16 years, possibly extending to 2040.
The aggression has also pushed 1.74 million Palestinians, constituting 58% of Gaza’s population, into poverty, undoing 44 years of development efforts in the health and education sectors.
In addition, the Observatory has documented four incursions into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the past week. Approximately 127 Palestinians were arrested across various cities and towns in the West Bank, while the occupation forces demolished nine buildings containing residential and commercial shops in Al-Quds, Ramallah, Tulkarm, and Hebron.
Furthermore, the forces confiscated three bulldozers, two agricultural tractors, and a truck in the villages of Hebron, Ramallah, and Nablus, while agricultural lands and infrastructure in Nablus, Hebron, and Tulkarm were razed.
