37th Death Anniversary of Classical Singer Ustad Chote Ghulam Ali Khan Observed

LAHORE:  The 37th death anniversary of renowned Pakistani classical singer Ustad Chote Ghulam Ali Khan observed on Friday.

He was born in a family of musicians in Kasur. He got his early training of classical music from his father, Mian Imam Bakhsh, who was known for his unique singing style.

Ustad Chote Ghulam Ali Khan mastered the art of classical singing at a very young age. He excelled in different genres of classical music such as Khayal, Dadra, Tarana and Thumri.

He has been associated with the Lahore Arts Council for a substantial period.

Renowned Pakistani singers Shahida Parveen, Badrul Zaman, Qamar ul Zaman are among his notable students.

the Government of Pakistan honored him with the ‘Pride of Performance’ award in 1985 in recognition to his contributions to the field of music.

Ustad Chhoty Ghulam Ali Khan died on December 29, 1986 in Lahore.
