Israeli troops shot dead 4 innocent Palestinians and injured many others as West Bank clashes increase

The Palestinian officials said on Tuesday that 4 people in the occupied territory were killed while several others were injured by Israeli occupation forces at the West Bank in the recent spate of clashes.

The Israeli army confirmed that its forces had shot “rioters” who they said attacked their soldiers in two separate clashes in the West Bank overnight.
A 20-year-old female soldier was “severely injured and taken to hospital for treatment” after an alleged car bomb attack north of Jerusalem, the army said.

Shaare Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem confirmed that the alleged attacker was killed.

The West Bank has suffered a spate of violence this year, with recent daily attacks by Israeli forces that have claimed many lives – Palestinian soldiers and civilians alike – while Jewish settlers have sometimes become more violent. In Kafr Ein, near Ramallah, Israeli fire killed two brothers, Palestinian medical officials said.

A third person died as a result of Israeli military shelling in Beit Ummar, near the burning city of Hebron, the ministry said. Speaking about the Beit Ummar conflict, the Israeli army said they opened fire on “rioters” who “threw stones and explosive devices at the soldiers” when two vehicles stopped during “an active patrol” in the area.

The Palestinian Wafa news agency named Mufid Mahmud Khalil, 44, from the Beit Ummar district. The Ministry of Health said that those who died in Kafr Ein were brothers Jawad Abdulrahman Rimawi, 22, and Dhafer Abdul Rahman Rimawi, 21.

The Israeli army said that the “violent riots are mostly suspected”, during the “regular” nighttime activities in the Kafr Ein area. “The suspects threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the soldiers, who responded with live ammunition,” the military statement said, adding that the soldiers were “currently” news of two deaths.

“The incident is being investigated,” the military said. Palestinian Minister of State Hussein Al Sheikh called the killing of the two brothers “a cold-blooded murder.”
In the West Bank area of Migron, the army reported a “crutch attack”. Emergency response agency Magen David Adom said its staff treated “a 20-year-old woman injured in a car bomb attack” and took her to Shaare Tzedek Hospital.

On Monday, the Middle East peace envoy of the United Nations, Tor Wennesland, warned that the situation in the West Bank “is reaching a boiling point”. “The high level of violence in the West Bank and Israeli settlements in recent months, including attacks by Israelis and Palestinians, the proliferation of weapons and violence against settlers, has caused great suffering for children people,” he told the Security Council.

This week, the military announced it had arrested more than 3,000 this year as part of Operation Break the Wave, a campaign it launched following a series of deadly attacks against Israeli civilians. According to the UN, more than 125 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank this year.

Israel has occupied the area since the Six-Day War of 1967. An estimated 475,000 Jews currently live in the territory, along with approximately 2.9 million Palestinians, in settlements that are considered illegal under international law.
