ISLAMABAD: The memory of the significant defeat suffered by India and its air force at the hands of the Pakistan Air Force on February 27, 2019, remains fresh despite the passage of five years.

The event highlighted the events surrounding the fateful day when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered a cowardly attack in Balakot, influenced by Hindutva ideology. However, within 24 hours, Pakistan Air Force executed ‘Operation Swift Retort,’ dealing a decisive blow to Indian aggression.

The operation was launched as a resolute response to the misadventures of the fascist Modi regime, whose air force breached Pakistan’s airspace on the night of February 26, 2019, targeting Balakot. ‘Operation Swift Retort’ shattered the myth of India’s conventional military superiority, with the Pakistan Air Force downing two Indian aircraft in a dogfight and capturing an Indian pilot, Abhinandan, alive. This victory continues to resonate as a testament to Pakistan’s resolve and capability.

The aftermath of ‘Operation Swift Retort’ led to further embarrassment for India, as the confusion resulted in the Indian Air Force mistakenly shooting down its helicopter, causing casualties, including the pilot. This incident served as a stark reminder to India of the consequences of provocation.

The operation not only thwarted India’s ambitions for regional dominance but also showcased the firm resolve and capacity of the Pakistan Air Force in countering aggressive Indian actions. The airstrikes near Balakot, claimed by India to target a militant camp, were refuted by Pakistan and international observers, citing no evidence of casualties and missed targets.

Moreover, doubts raised by the Indian opposition, particularly the Congress, regarding the authenticity of the Balakot strikes further undermined India’s narrative. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Navjot Singh Sidhu demanded validation and accurate casualty counts, questioning the credibility of the BJP government’s claims.

As the fifth anniversary of ‘Operation Swift Retort’ passes, it serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and deterring aggression, while exposing the fallacies of India’s aggressive designs.
