6 Mine Workers Trap After Coalmine Explosion in Kurram

KARAM: A coalmine explosion was reported in the Khawaida Khel area of Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, which trapped 6 miners working inside the mine.

Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud said that 6 people were trapped after the explosion in the mine, however, 4 individuals were rescued alive during the rescue operation, a local news channel reported.

DC said that the rescue operation is underway to locate and save the remaining two miners, while the injured rescued individuals have been transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Investigation to Determine Cause of Explosion

As per the DC statement, the cause of the explosion currently remains unknown, and an investigation is underway in this regard.

Back in 2022, six coal miners were killed in a gas explosion in the Shahrag coal field area of Harnai district.
