ISLAMABAD: A survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan has found that a significant majority of Pakistanis experienced weight loss during the holy month of Ramadan, while a smaller percentage reported weight gain despite fasting.

The survey, which included responses from over 1,000 participants across the country, was conducted between March 18 and 25, providing insights into the impact of fasting on weight among Pakistanis during Ramadan.

According to the survey findings, 56% of respondents stated that they had lost weight during Ramadan. They attributed this weight loss to the practice of fasting observed during the month. Conversely, 7% of participants reported weight gain despite fasting.

Approximately 35% of respondents stated that they did not observe any change in their weight during Ramadan, while 2% chose not to provide an answer to this question.

Further analysis by Gallup Pakistan revealed that people between the ages of 30 and 50 reported the highest rate of weight loss, accounting for 58% of respondents in this age group. Meanwhile, 53% of respondents under the age of 30 and 52% of those over the age of 50 also reported experiencing weight loss during Ramadan.
