73rd Birthday of Moin Akhtar Celebrated

KARACHI: The 73rd birth anniversary of one of the most talented and versatile actors of Pakistan, Moin Akhtar was celebrated on Sunday. The versatile actor, who rose to stardom from the Pakistan Television (PTV) was born in Karachi on December 24, 1950. He was an artist par excellence, be it comic or serious role.

Be it the silver screen or TV plays, he left a permanent impression of his talent in every medium.

Besides films and television, Moin Akhtar also showed his skills as a comedian, stage artist, host, writer, singer, impersonator, director and producer.

73rd Birthday of Moin Akhtar Celebrated

Moin started his career from Radio Pakistan in 1966. Moin became an icon via his depiction of a shrewd lady Rozi. Moin Akhtar’s career spanned over 45 years.

Moin Akhtar also teamed up with another great artist Umer Sharif and starred in a series of stage plays, including Budha Ghar Pe Hai and Bakra Qiston Pe.

He also hosted talk shows Yes Sir No Sir and Moin Akhter Show and set new standards in the industry. Similarly, in the show Loose Talk, Moin appeared as a different character in each episode with Anwar Maqsood. Moin Akhar was awarded Pride of Performance in 1996, Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2011 and Best Actor at PTV Awards in 2000. He passed away on 22 April 2011.
