LAHORE: 7th death anniversary of renowned Pakistani classical singer and the patriarch of Patiala family Ustad Fateh Ali Khan is being observed on Thursday.
He was born in 1935, Hoshiarpur, British India. Late Ustad was amongst the leading Khayal singers in the subcontinent who acquired legendary status in his lifetime.
Late classical singer, Ustad Amanat Ali Khan was his elder brother while Ustad Hamid Ali Khan is his younger brother.
The government gave him the Pride of Performance Award and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz acknowledging his contributions to field of classical music.
Ustad Hamid Ali Khan once stated that Fateh Ali Khan was his teacher, without whom he could not have achieved anything.

Renowned Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan and late classical singer Asad Amanat Ali were nephews of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan.
Ustad Fateh Ali Khan was a big name of his era among big names who spread classical music in this region.
He died in Islamabad at the age of 82.
