A Hameed Being Remembered Today

ISLAMABAD: The 13th death anniversary of the legendary Urdu fiction writer and creator of the famous children’s TV drama “Ainak Wala Jin”, Abdul Hameed known as A Hameed, is being observed today. He was born in Amritsar in 1928 and also completed his secondary education from the same town. Following the partition, he migrated to Pakistan, where he pursued his intermediate education and began his career as an assistant script editor at Radio Pakistan.

After gaining experience at Radio Pakistan, he later joined Voice of America. His initial collection of short stories garnered widespread acclaim, establishing him as a prominent romantic short story writer. In addition to his short stories and novels, he contributed columns to national newspapers and also wrote for radio and television.

Hameed boasts a bibliography of over 200 novels, with works like “Lahore Lahore Aye,” “Ehram-e-Misr Se Farar,” and “Mirza Ghalib Lahore Main” ranking among his most celebrated pieces. His iconic children’s drama “Ainak Wala Jin” captivated audiences throughout the 1990s, while his fantasy series “AMBAR NAAG MARIA Series,” comprising 100 novels, further solidified his reputation.
