ISLAMABAD: The United States of America has called on the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action against North Korea for launching the latest intercontinental ballistic missile in violation of the UN resolutions.

North Korea’s intercontinental ballistic missile launched this month, the most powerful and successful test missile is capable of reaching all of North America. US envoy to the UN said North Korea had launched 63 ballistic missiles this year, including 8 ICBMs.

North Korea conducted ballistic missile:

Linda Thomas told the UN Security Council that North Korea conducted ballistic missile launches without fear of response or retaliation from this council. She said that China and Russia are two significant veto-wielding powers at the Council for enabling North Korea.

Furthermore, Thomas-Greenfield said that missile tests, due to that effect, should raise tensions in the region that endanger Japanese civilians’ lives. And North East Asian region entire world is at risk.

She said that the US wants the Council to hold North Korea accountable for its destabilizing actions and take action against its illegal weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile.

The US demand for solid action comes after G7 nations called for the UN Security Council last Sunday to take significant measures following North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

However, The Security Council has imposed economic and military penalties on North Korea because of its nuclear programme since 2006.
