Afghanistan, China Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

KABUL: Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Acting Minister of National Defense of Afghanistan, met with Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, local media reported on Saturday.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defense, Mawlavi Yaqoob highlighted the positive developments in diplomatic, commercial, and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and China. He emphasized the shared interests, particularly as neighboring nations.

During the meeting, the Acting Defense Minister lauded Chinese investments in Afghanistan and reiterated Afghanistan’s commitment to enhancing the security of Chinese investors and traders in the country.

Zhao Xing reaffirmed China’s longstanding commitment to cooperate in commercial and economic domains while maintaining a non-interference policy in political issues.  Both sides expressed willingness to further deepen their ties and cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit.
