After Cricket, Football, All Pakistan Volleyball and Basketball also Begin in DPL

DIR UPPER: Following a splendid inauguration ceremony the other day, the Dir Premier League (DPL) has entered its sensational phase on Saturday. After cricket and football matches, the volleyball and basketball contests have also commenced, accompanied by jubilation and cheers from the crowd.

The administration has planned for national-level basketball and volleyball matches, attracting players from across the country, including Lahore, Islamabad, and other regions, to the beautiful Dir Town to participate in the event.

During the first cricket match played last day, the Kashora Markhors turned the tables on Shahi Dragon, beating the latter by 2 wickets in a nail-biting encounter.

Pakistan Test Players Taking Part at DPL

In another cricket match on Saturday played between Lawari Warriors and Katora Kings, the Warriors, led by Pakistan Cricket Team Test player and Lahore Qalandar middle-order batsman Kamran Ghulam, defeated the Kings by 35 runs.

Lawari Warriors batted first and scored 163 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the total, Katora Kings managed to put just 128 runs on the board. From the Warriors, Kamran Ghulam and Asad each grabbed three wickets. Another test player, Sajid Khan, who made his international debut for the Pakistan Cricket Team in April 2021 and then delivered several match-winning performances, is also expected to join DPL in a day or two.

Football Contest at DPL

Meanwhile on Friday Night, Katora Kings outplayed Dir United by 1-0 in an exciting football contest.

Like Cricket and football, the event also included Volleyball and Basketball, where players from across the country are displaying their skills. In one of the volleyball contests on Saturday Evening Guddo Club Azakhail beat Agra Club Buner in a straight set of 2-0.

In a contest of Basketball played on Saturday evening, Dir Bulls outshine Pak Army by six points, while having 47 score on broad in total against 41 by Pak Army.

As the event has entered into its middle phase the spectators are expecting more excitements from the players came from across the country. Purpose of the event is to promote, sports, tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in Dir Upper and let the world know about the mesmerizing beauty of the lush green area.
