ISLAMABAD: In a move to help make the technology as risk-free as much as possible, artificial intelligence (AI) developers, including OpenAI, Alphabet, and Meta, have assured the White House to take concrete steps such as watermarking AI-generated content, Reuters reported on Saturday.

The announcement was made by US President Joe Biden, adding that these commitments are a promising step, but “we have a lot more work together,”.

At a White House event, President Biden addressed the recent growing concerns about the potential for AI to be used for disruptive purposes.

AI companies, including OpenAI, Alphabet, and Meta Platforms, have made their commitments to the White House to implement measures such as watermarking AI-generated content to help make the technology safer.

These companies also committed to thoroughly assessing systems before releasing them and sharing information about how to reduce risks related to cybersecurity.

Commenting over the move, Microsoft lauded the efforts president’s leadership via a blog post on Friday, adding that it would help in bringing the tech industry together to hammer out concrete steps that would help make AI safer, secure, and more beneficial for the public.

EU Working on Issue of AI-Generated Content

The United States lags behind the European Union (EU) in tackling artificial intelligence regulation. In June, EU lawmakers agreed to a set of draft rules where systems like ChatGPT would have to disclose AI-generated content along with distinguishing so-called deep-fake images from real ones and ensure safeguards against illegal content.
