AlUla Date Festival Generates $1.6m in Auction Sales

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: The AlUla Date Festival, a cultural celebration and economic boost, has achieved remarkable success with auction sales totaling SR6 million ($1.6 million) since its commencement on September 8, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

Organized by the Royal Commission for AlUla, this annual festival is a vibrant tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the region. The festivities continue every Friday and Saturday until November 11, offering a wide array of events and activities.

In its fourth edition, the festival introduces a special recognition program for farmers, acknowledging both the quantity and value of the dates they have sold. The selection of winners will involve prominent entities such as the Royal Commission, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Center for Palm and Dates, and the Agricultural Development Fund.

The grand prize awaits the first-place winner, who will be awarded SR75,000 ($19,997). Additionally, the second and third-place finishers will receive SR50,000 and SR30,000, respectively. These incentives not only celebrate the hard work and dedication of the region’s farmers but also contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of the date industry in AlUla.
