ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has emphasized that permanent peace in South Asia hinges upon the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, local media reported on Tuesday.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC Spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas hoped that the UN Secretary-General, along with the global community, should urge India to cease its policy of military aggression, human rights violations, illegal detentions, and aggression against the vulnerable populace of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Criticizing the ongoing cordon and search operations and the detention of youths by Indian troops and police personnel in Kulgam and Bandipora areas, the spokesman reiterated that such measures could not deter the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) from their legitimate struggle for self-determination, which they will continue until achieving their objectives.

The spokesman commended Pakistan’s efforts in countering India’s political and military maneuvers while condemning New Delhi’s repeated betrayals, which have heightened tensions in South Asia, dangerously approaching a nuclear confrontation.

APHC highlighted that India is committing human rights violation in IIOJK but it could not suppress the Kashmiri people’s demand for self-determination. Urging India to withdraw its troops from Jammu and Kashmir, release all Kashmiri political detainees unconditionally, revoke oppressive laws, restore civil and political rights of IIOJK residents, and engage in meaningful dialogue in accordance with UN resolutions to resolve the Kashmir dispute, the spokesman said.

Furthermore, Hurriyat leaders including Saleem Zargar, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Dr Irfan Khan, Abdul Rashid Butt, and Imtiyaz Reshi, in their statements emphasizing that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were enduring unprecedented hardships.

They called India to refrain from trampling upon the democratic and human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and urged the world to address the Kashmir issue.
