SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly denounced the Hindutva-led Indian government under Narendra Modi for its continuous efforts to suppress the identity and economy of the marginalized people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement on Tuesday expressed deep concern over the increasing atrocities and political injustices faced by the inhabitants of IIOJK.

Minhas highlighted the Modi administration’s active pursuit of the Hindutva agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), aimed at altering the demographic composition of the region.

He called upon Kashmiris to stand united against these nefarious designs, drawing inspiration from spiritual leaders of the land such as Mir Syed Ali Hamdani and Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA).

The spokesperson emphasized that the BJP and RSS were striving to resurrect pre-Islamic Hindu civilization as part of their “Akhand Bharat” agenda, resulting in a systematic erosion of the Muslim identity in IIOJK. He condemned the influx of non-local settlers into the region through the issuance of domicile certificates subsequent to the abrogation of state-subject laws.

Minhas underscored that Modi’s unilateral actions on August 5, 2019, aimed to strip Kashmiris of their identity and undermine their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.

Furthermore, the APHC denounced the arbitrary detention of youth in Baramulla district by Indian troops on unfounded charges.

The APHC urged the international community to intervene and exert pressure on India to safeguard the identity of Kashmiris and implement UN resolutions on Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations of the people, thus fostering lasting peace in South Asia.
