Australian Batter Mooney Regains Top Spot in ICC Women T20 Rankings

ISLAMABAD: The inform Australia opener Beth Mooney has managed to reclaim the number one slot in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings after an impactful and match-winning inning in the first T20I of their three-match home series against the proteas.

The left-handed batter, who first occupied the number one position in March 2020 and remained in at the leading scorer in December 2022, smashed a superb knock of 72 not out, while facing 57 deliveries including 11 boundaries and a six to take her team registering an eight-wicket win and go one-zero in the series.

Meanwhile, South Africa batter Laura Wolvaardt, who took added a superb 58 runs not out in the second match, managed to occupy number three position in the ranking.

Another opener from the Proteus side Tazmin Brits also improved her ranking while moving to her career-best sixth position after smashing 100 runs in two innings.

Ireland opener Amy Hunter also registered significant progress after smashing a terrific century of 101 followed by another fine inning of 71 and took her side to a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The wicketkeeper-batter is now the highest ranked batter from Ireland.

Skipper of the Ireland Laura Delaney’s match-winning performance while taking four wickets for just 12 runs in the second contest also improved her ranking to 56 among bowlers while her team-mate Cara Murray has improved her slot to 49th position after her performance of getting three wickets in two matches.
