PARIS: Australian cyclist Jai Hindley of Team Bora-Hansgrohe won Stage 5 of the Tour de France on Wednesday.
Hindley defeated British cyclist Adam Yates and got the yellow jersey by finishing the 162.7-kilometer (101-mile) mountain stage between Pau and Laruns in 3 hours, 57 minutes, and 7 seconds.
Italian cyclist, Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek, finished second, and Austrian cyclist, Felix Gall of AG2R-Citroen Team, finished third in the fifth stage.
Overall, Hindley took 22 hours, 15 minutes, and 12 seconds to win.
Stage 6 would be played on Thursday over a 145-kilometer (90-mile) route between Tarbes and Cauterets-Cambasque.
Following Stage 21, the Tour de France will end on July 23 in Paris’ Champs-Elysees.
