BAKU: The Azerbaijan Army marked the occasion of December 31, celebrated as the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year, through a series of events across all branches of the military, Combined Arms Army, Army Corps, formations, and special educational institutions. The plan for these events was approved by the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
The ceremonies commenced by paying tribute to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. A moment of silence was observed, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan by a military orchestra.
Significance of Azerbaijan’s Solidarity Day
Speakers at the festive gatherings highlighted the historical significance of Solidarity Day, emphasizing the foundational contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the development of the republic. The events also recognized the recent victory achieved in the Patriotic War and other successful military operations led by President Ilham Aliyev, who continues the legacy of Heydar Aliyev’s policies.
The program featured documentaries, videos, photo and book exhibitions for military personnel, along with meetings, cultural-mass, and patriotic events involving local executive authorities, state and non-governmental organizations, veterans, and public representatives.
In line with the Defense Minister’s directive, military personnel visited orphanages, organized festive tables, and presented children with various gifts as part of an entertaining program. The events also showcased performances by the creative teams of the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov and the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, as well as regional cultural departments, presenting captivating concert programs.
