LAHORE: In a remarkable feat, Pakistan’s batting sensation, Babar Azam, has etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the fastest player to amass 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. This historic achievement occurred during an intense match in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Azam’s accomplishment makes him the 12th cricketer globally to reach this milestone, outshining the legendary West Indian batsman, Chris Gayle. Remarkably, Azam achieved this feat in just 11 years and 82 days, outpacing Gayle’s record.

The monumental moment unfolded during a thrilling encounter between Babar Azam’s team, Peshawar Zalmi, and the Karachi Kings at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Despite the match’s high stakes, Azam showcased his brilliance with a stellar innings, amassing 72 runs.

Azam’s journey to 10,000 runs spanned a mere 271 innings, a testament to his exceptional batting prowess. By comparison, Gayle took 285 innings, while Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli achieved the milestone in 299 innings.

Despite Azam’s remarkable performance, Peshawar Zalmi faced a sudden collapse, courtesy of Karachi Kings’ formidable bowling attack. Despite a promising start, Zalmi faltered and were dismissed for a modest total of 154 runs, highlighting the unpredictability of T20 cricket.
