ISLAMABAD: In order to launch her bid on the Miss Universe title, Bahrain’s model Evlin Abdullah Khalifa reached New Orleans on Wednesday.
According to the Bahraini Russian model, who is 24 years old and also a pianist, wore a black and white abaya in the latest design fashioned by Dubai designer Harvey Cenit.
Writing on Instagram, Evlin stated that her “presence” at the event is “about representation”.

She added that her wearing an abaya depicts her attempt to “pay respect and homage” to her country’s traditional wear.
According to Evlin, abaya is “our everyday wear” which being “light and flowy fabric” provides comfort”.
She maintained that in the pre-Islamic era, covering the body was “more about status symbol” than about religion.
In September last year Evlin Abdullah Khalifa was named Miss Universe Bahrain.
