ISLAMABAD: Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, senior vice chairman of the All-parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has claimed that the prohibition of the hijab in a Srinagar school is yet another disgraceful attempt on the region’s Muslim identity by Hindutva forces in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar expressed shock over this happening and said that the Hindutva regime is hell-bent on eradicating Muslim symbols and imposing its pernicious philosophy. He also said it is time for Muslims to awaken to thwart the cultural invasion.

He praised the strong Muslim female students who stood up against the anti-Muslim action and protested it. He also asked parents to avoid educational institutions that encourage vulgarity in the direction of their Hindutva overlords.

He claimed that the Modi administration is desperately attempting to push its agenda in the region after removing Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019. He forewarned that anti-Islamic forces were employing all of their strength and resources to steal Kashmiris’ Muslim heritage.

He lamented that it was creating wine shops, encouraging drug culture, and diverting the young generation’s focus away from the independence cause.

Ahmed Gulzar noted that Kashmiris’ culture, Muslim identity, honor, and lives are threatened. He cautioned that if they ignored such conspiracies, they would be completely deprived of their rights.

He asked intellectuals, APHC leaders, and Muslim scholars to get together and fight valiantly to thwart the evil plans of the Hindutva radicals. All social groups must work together to begin an awareness campaign, inform people of the Indian conspiracy, and develop united measures to combat evil forces that have declared war on Kashmiris, he continued.

He claimed that the Hindutva groups’ main strategy for brainwashing the next generation is to attack educational institutions and that it is the responsibility of the people to protect their children by avoiding these devilish minds.

In addition, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar raised worry over the sealing of pro-freedom leaders’ properties and the intimidation of religious experts, social workers, human rights advocates, and average Kashmiris. He regretted that India was employing its feared agencies to spread confusion and fear throughout the region. He argued that the intimidation strategy had utterly failed to silence the call for freedom.

He pleaded with the UN, OIC, and international human rights organizations to pay attention to the issue and step forward to help the Kashmiris. —APP
