JEDDAH: Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha on Tuesday received Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Hasan Mahmud at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud reiterated Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He also briefed the OIC chief about his country’s efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in supporting the cause of the Palestinian people, including its recent statement before the International Court of Justice.
Both leaders discussed other matters of mutual interest, including cooperation among OIC member countries, promotion of intra-OIC economic and trade activities, and recent developments regarding the situation of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
OIC Chief Appreciates Bangladesh
The Secretary-General lauded Dhaka’s active engagement towards Joint Islamic Action, support for the cause of Palestine, and its generous aid as the host of almost two million Rohingya people in Bangladesh.
