ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to solve the problem of transportation for female students and women teachers of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Schools, has made a significant decision to launch new buses.

Under this initiative, a total of 20 buses from federal educational institutions will be prepared and deployed on the roads with the assistance of the district administration. These buses will facilitate the transportation needs of female students and teachers from both public and private educational institutions, offering complimentary travel across urban and rural areas of the federal capital, with support from the district administration.

Distinguished by their pink paint, these new buses will be exclusively reserved for women and girls. The Secretary of Education highlighted the rationale behind this move, citing the rising dropout rate among girls due to inadequate transport facilities.

During internal audits, it was discovered that thirty percent of the total 385 buses belonging to federal educational institutions were rendered unusable and parked. The Secretary attributed this to budget constraints, shortage of drivers, and insufficient maintenance.

Looking ahead, the Secretary mentioned plans to allow women to utilize these buses, contingent upon available space. It was further disclosed that these buses will be operational by June 15, serving female students and teachers in need of transportation services.
