CALIFORNIA: California is grappling with the aftermath of back-to-back powerful storms, unleashing havoc in the most populous US state. Dubbed as “atmospheric rivers,” these storms have inundated the region with heavy rainfall, triggering flooding, mudslides, and widespread power outages.

The second storm, lingering over the Los Angeles area, prompted the governor to declare a state of emergency across eight counties.

Evacuation orders have been issued in high-risk zones, while strong winds in northern and central California have toppled trees and disrupted power supply to nearly a million households and businesses.

Despite mitigation efforts, the storm activity is forecasted to persist.
