Caretaker Government to Provide Support to 2022 Flood Victims: Minister

KARACHI: Caretaker Minister of Finance, Revenue, Planning, and Development Sindh Muhammad Younis Dagha said on Monday that the government will provide assistance to the victims of the devastating floods of last year in the province.

In a meeting with a group of journalists, the minister said that the government was trying to complete the construction of houses for the flood victims at a good pace to end the suffering of the victims displaced due to last year’s floods.

He said that for this purpose, the government has set a target to start construction of 100,000 houses every month and that there is an instruction to release twenty billion rupees per month for the fast construction of flood victims’ houses.

Talking about the pension of the retired employees of the Sindh government, the minister said that due to the increasing demand and low availability of the pension fund, the pension payment is facing problems. He said that the budget for the budget would be gradually increased.

The minister said that the mandate of the caretaker government is limited, but it is trying to improve public welfare within the limited mandate.

Government Performance

Talking about the measures to improve the performance of government departments, he said that in order to improve the government institutions’ performance, officers of good reputations have been appointed.

He said that instructions have also been given to improve the land records in the revenue department through digitization.

The minister added that the caretaker government is trying to ensure the implementation of the ongoing projects for the welfare of the people.
