Caretaker Prime Minister Boosts Economic Ties with DP World Chairman

DAVOS: Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, engaged in a strategic meeting with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, a prominent multinational logistics company.

The rendezvous took place on the sidelines of the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Kakar expressed contentment with the growing exchanges, interactions, and collaboration between businesses in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He underscored the transformative potential of these partnerships and welcomed DP World’s keen interest in expanding its business ventures in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister assured DP World of the government’s unwavering support, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate partner enterprises and realize its geo-economic vision as a hub of commerce and industry.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the witnessing of the signing of Inter-Governmental Framework Agreements between the Ministries of Communications, Railways, and Maritime Affairs of Pakistan and the Government of Dubai, represented by DP World.

These agreements encompass potential opportunities for the development of a dedicated freight corridor, multi-modal logistics park, and rail freight terminals on Pakistan’s railway network. Additionally, the agreements cover the development of a coastal economic zone and dredging works of navigation channels at Port Qasim.

This collaborative effort marks a crucial step toward fostering economic growth, infrastructure development, and strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
