Carl Lewis Excited for Sprint Competition at Paris Olympics

Walnut, United States: Nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis expressed excitement about the upcoming sprint competition at the Paris Olympics, anticipating a spectacular event organized by the host city. Speaking at the Mt. SAC Relays east of Los Angeles, Lewis shared his positive outlook for the games.

Lewis emphasized the significance of Paris as the host city, describing it as a “wonderful country” with a beautiful city that integrates culture and ideas seamlessly. He highlighted the significance of the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking the 100th anniversary since the 1924 Games, and expects it to be a fabulous event.

The legendary athlete, known for his dominance in track and field, particularly during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where he won four gold medals, expressed delight in witnessing a diverse range of athletes challenging in the sprints on a global stage.

Lewis, now 62 years old and involved with coaching athletes at the University of Houston, praised the rising young talent in sprinting and welcomed the increased global participation in sprint events. He believes the diversity in sprinters from around the world enhances the competition and makes it more exciting for spectators.

Regarding the upcoming Paris Olympics, Lewis acknowledged Noah Lyles as a potential favourite for the sprints based on recent performances but refrained from making concrete predictions due to the early stage of the season.

Lewis concluded by reaffirming his enthusiasm for the global presence and competitiveness in sprinting, foreseeing a tremendous and thrilling competition at the Paris Olympics.
