Cars’ Sale Drops 50 per cent During July-August

ISLAMABAD: The sale of cars during the first two months of the current financial year 2023-24 has dropped by 50.35 per cent as compared to the same month of the last year, a recent data released by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) said.

The data reveals that a total of 9,611 cars were sold during July and August of 2023-24, marking a significant decline from the 19,358 units sold in the same months of the previous year.

Breaking down the numbers, it is evident that the sales of Honda Civic and City combined amounted to 700 units during July and August of 2023-24, a stark contrast to the 3,844 units sold during the same period in 2022-23.

Similarly, the sales of Toyota Corolla and Yaris cars have witnessed a sharp decline of 52.83 per cent, falling from 4,635 units in the previous year to a mere 2,186 units in the current year.

The Suzuki Swift also experienced a decline in sales, with a decrease of 11.48 per cent, resulting in 755 units sold compared to 853 units in the previous year.

The sales of Suzuki Cultus during the first two months of the current year stood at 482 units, in stark contrast to the 1,072 units sold during the same period last year. Furthermore, the sale of Suzuki WagonR also decreased to 604 units from 647 units in the previous year.

Suzuki Alto’s sales witnessed a substantial decline of 39.09 per cent, dropping from 6,911 units to 4,209 units during the current year. Similarly, the sale of Suzuki Bolan decreased to 312 units compared to the 580 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
