China Calls for Restraint in Wake of US Troop Deaths in Jordan

BEIJING: The recent drone attack on a US military base in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of three American troops, China has issued a warning against a potential “cycle of retaliation” in the Middle East. The United States attributed the attack to militants and vowed to respond.

Iran denied involvement, emphasizing it had no connection to the strike.

China, acknowledging the complexity and sensitivity of the situation in the Middle East, emphasized the importance of all relevant parties maintaining calm and restraint. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, urged against falling into a vicious cycle of retaliation and stressed the need to prevent further escalation of regional tension.

The situation remains highly complex, with concerns about potential escalation as fighting continues in Gaza.
