BEIJING: A humanoid robot innovation center has been established in the Chinese capital, Beijing, to accelerate the technology supply and industrialization of humanoid robots.

The Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, a registered entity located within the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, is the result of collaborative efforts by companies specializing in complete robots, essential components, and large robot models.

This innovation center will concentrate on both hardware and software development, with a primary focus on addressing critical challenges within the industry. These include the enhancement of operation control systems and the creation of open-source operating systems (OS).

Su Guobin, Deputy Head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, stated, “Beijing is already home to a national robot inspection and testing platform, as well as a national robot standardization technical committee. We are also in the process of establishing the Beijing Robot Industry Development Fund. Furthermore, a shared processing center for robot manufacturing is under development.”

China has set its sights on creating a robust innovation system for humanoid robots. The goal is to nurture a plethora of small and medium-sized enterprises specializing in the humanoid robot market, equipped with cutting-edge technologies.

By the year 2025, China aspires to have two to three humanoid robot companies with a global presence.”
