BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jina stated on Thursday that Pakistan is conducting a thorough investigation into the Shangla terror attack and taking necessary steps to enhance the safety of Chinese citizens personnel, projects, and institutions.

Lin assured that China believes Pakistan will swiftly uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice.

During a regular media briefing, Lin highlighted the active involvement of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan in emergency response and post-incident procedures.

On March 27, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong visited the project camp affected by the attack to offer condolences to the Chinese employees.

Lin mentioned that Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visited the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan to express condolences to the victims and pledged decisive action against the attackers.

He said that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) also condemned the terrorist attack on the same day and expressed sympathy to the affected families and the governments of China and Pakistan.

“We are committed to collaborating with the international community to combat terrorism and uphold global peace and stability,” Lin added.

It is pertinent to mention here that on March 26, five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani national were killed in an attack on a vehicle belonging to the Dasu Hydropower Project, managed by a Chinese company in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
