China-Pakistan Gandhara Art Exhibition Concludes in Shenzhen

SHENZEN, China: The largest Gandhara art exhibition in China’s history concluded with a grand ceremony at the Shenzhen Museum. The exhibition, titled “Gandhara Heritage along the Silk Road: A Joint China-Pakistan Exhibition,” featured over 170 artifacts from seven museums in Pakistan.

Initially debuted at the Palace Museum in Beijing, the exhibition garnered immense interest from the Chinese audience, leading to its expansion into a touring exhibition. It made stops in Gansu before concluding in Shenzhen.

The closing ceremony was attended by esteemed officials from both China and Pakistan, including directors of prominent museums and diplomatic representatives. Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, highlighted the success of the collaborative effort and emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Ambassador Hashmi hinted at future joint initiatives, signaling ongoing plans for exhibitions showcasing shared heritage. He also underscored Pakistan’s historical significance as the heart of the Gandhara civilization and its pivotal role in cultural exchanges along the ancient Silk Road.

The exhibition served as a testament to the strong cultural ties between China and Pakistan, fostering greater understanding and appreciation of their rich heritage.
