BEIJING: China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Centre was inaugurated on Monday to facilitate Chinese technology companies in doing business in Pakistan, further strengthen bilateral relations and bridge the youth at the two sides at the border.
Moin ul Haque, Pakistan Ambassador to China, and Zhang Xiaodong, President of Zhongguancun Belt and Road Industrial Promotion Association (ZBRA) inaugurated the center. Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) also virtually joined the inauguration ceremony held in Beijing.
Addressing the ceremony, ambassador Haque highlighted the increased importance of cooperation in the field of science and technology to further consolidate bilateral relations. He also talked about the government’s vision to create a digital ecosystem to ensure the availability of affordable, reliable, and high-standard ICT services.
Computer-literate, Tech-savvy Youth to Play Crucial Role in Bilateral Relations
He said that the Pakistani youth, forming sixty percent of the total population, who are skilled, tech-savvy, and computer-literate would play a crucial role in strengthening cooperation in the fields of science and technology between the two countries.

Other speakers included Liu Jianxing, Director of International Cooperation, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Yang Dongri, Director of China Center for Information Industry Development Institute at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Hamza Saeed, Director of Strategic Planning, STZA, and Zhang Xiaodong, President ZBRA.
The speakers underlined the various aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries. They agreed that cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and information technology would play a crucial role in further consolidating bilateral ties in the future. – APP
