BEIJING: China on Monday strongly condemned the perpetrators of the atrocities at Al-Shifa Hospital and Nasser Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said during his regular briefing that Beijing was deeply shocked and strongly condemned the perpetrators of the atrocity.

He was responding to a query regarding hundreds of bodies which were found days ago buried deep in the ground at Al-Shifa and Nasser Hospital hospitals.

Lin Jian said that vast swaths of Gaza were now left in rubble, with more than a million civilians struggling in despair on the brink of death.

He added that the fact that this is even happening in the 21st century is an outrage to the moral conscience of humanity, and tramples on the most basic aspect of global justice.

Human Loss in Gaza

The spokesperson said that over two hundred days had passed since October 7, and the conflict in Gaza had caused more than 100,000 causalities and displaced over a million.

Jin Jian said that a humanitarian catastrophe that should never have happened continues to unfold. The biggest need is to implement a ceasefire as soon as possible. This is the top overriding priority in Gaza.

He said that the relevant country [Israel] must no longer turn a deaf ear to the call for justice from people with conscience across the world. It must no longer talk about the need for a ceasefire while pouring weapons into the war, and talk about humanitarian assistance while creating obstacles for aid access.

It must immediately implement relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, implement a durable and unconditional ceasefire, and take concrete steps to end this biggest humanitarian tragedy in the 21st century once and for all, the spokesperson added.
