BEIJING: China has expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, citing the struggling Al-Shifa Hospital as a stark representation of the ongoing devastation caused by the brutal Israeli military in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Mao Ning, spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and an increase in humanitarian aid to alleviate the dire situation on the ground.
“Al-Shifa Hospital is an epitome of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” Mao stated, drawing attention to the widespread destruction in Gaza since October 7 when Israel launched relentless air strikes on the besieged enclave. The hospital, which has been grappling with the overwhelming influx of casualties, symbolizes the severity of the crisis resulting from Israel’s brutal air and ground attacks.
The latest figures from Palestinian authorities reveal a devastating toll, with at least 11,180 Palestinians killed, including over 7,700 children and women, and more than 28,200 others injured. The relentless attack by Israel has also led to the destruction or damage of thousands of buildings, including hospitals, schools and refugee camps.
