BEIJING: China experienced a year-on-year 51.7 percent increase in the number of charging piles for electric vehicles (EVs) in November, as reported by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance.

The number of charging piles rose by 101,000 in November from the previous month, the alliance further said.

Approximately 75,000 new public charging piles were added every month on average from December 2022 to November 2023.

This growth reflects China’s ongoing efforts to expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, driven by the thriving market. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, sales of new-energy vehicles in the country’s domestic market surged by 31.7% year on year, reaching 7.21 million units in the first 11 months of the year.  —Xinhua/APP
