China’s High-end Passenger Vehicles Sales Up 11.1% in 2022

BEIJING: The high-end passenger vehicles sale in China logged steady expansion in 2022 mainly driven by consumption upgrading within the country, industry data revealed on Monday.

China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said that approximately 3.89 million such cars were sold in the country last year, which is up 11.1 percent year on year, at a pace 1.6 percentage points faster than all other passenger vehicles.

During the period, the sale accounted for 16.5 percent of total passenger vehicle sales in the country, which is 0.7 percentage points higher than in 2021.

Petrol vehicles sale

The sales of petrol vehicles with prices over 500000 yuan (about $73853) increased by 41.2 percent year on year last in 2022.

New-energy vehicles with prices ranging between 350000 and 40000 yuan increased by 167 percent.

The association said that the sales of petrol cars with prices over 500,000 yuan (about $73,853) increased by 41.2 percent year on year last year, while that for new-energy cars with prices ranging between 350,000 and 400,000 yuan jumped 167 percent, the association said.
