BEIJING: The Silk Road, particularly the Tang West Market in Xi’an City, China, has been a historical hub of bustling business activities between China and other nations. Today, its legacy continues to shine brightly, infused with renewed vitality.

Lv Jianzhong, deputy to the National People’s Congress and Chairman of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) and Tang West Market Cultural Industry Investment Group, emphasized the potential for showcasing traditional Chinese culture digitally.

During the ongoing Two Sessions, China’s paramount political event, Lv proposed the establishment of an international base for offline cultural trade. This initiative aims to enhance people-to-people exchanges and foster mutual understanding.

In September 2023, Lv witnessed the launch of the Cultural Digital Silk Road, a collaborative effort involving numerous institutions from China and other Belt and Road countries. This platform, empowered by cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, facilitates the trading and circulation of both digital and physical artworks.

Lv highlighted the significance of digital and international presentations of culturally rich products as a means of harnessing new productive forces in the cultural industry. In recent years, high technology has been seamlessly integrated into various cultural scenarios, including exhibitions, performances, and museums, transcending the limitations of time and space. For instance, the Palace Museum in China hosted a monumental Gandhara art exhibition, both online and offline, showcasing artworks from Belt and Road countries, thus breaking new ground in cultural exchange.
