China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Pakistan’s CJCSC Discuss Defense Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Mr Sun Weidong, Vice Foreign Minister of China, on Monday called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters, Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

Matters related to bilateral security, defense cooperation, regional and international security environment were discussed during the meeting, ISPR said.

Earlier, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ), ISPR said.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, focusing on initiatives to further strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.

The ISPR statement said that the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister described Pakistan and China as all-weather strategic partners. He recognized Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability and expressed China’s satisfaction with the security arrangements for CPEC projects.

In response, the Pakistan Army Chief thanked the visiting dignitary for his positive remarks. He highlighted that the relationship between Pakistan and China is built upon a shared vision of regional peace, stability, and prosperity for the citizens of both countries.
