BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to the opening of the fifteenth session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)’s Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Gambia.
Xi said that the OIC was a symbol of the unity and independence of Islamic nations, and has made important contributions to strengthening cooperation among Islamic countries as well as safeguarding global fairness and justice.
He said that China and Islamic nations are good friends and partners with a long history of friendship. In recent years, China and Islamic nations have supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, and continuously upgraded their friendly ties, setting a good example of South-South cooperation, Xi added.
China’s Cooperation with Islamic Countries
Chinese leader further said that China stood ready to keep on working with Islamic nations to continue traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation, enhance political mutual trust, expand exchanges among civilizations, jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Security Initiative, and make greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
