Chinese Special Envoy, Maldivian President Discuss Bilateral Relations

MALE: Shen Yiqin, the Special Envoy of the Chinese President and State Councillor of the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, underscoring the significance of fostering and reinforcing the enduring friendship between China and the Maldives. The meeting took place on Saturday morning at the President’s Office.

State Councillor Shen Yiqin extended congratulations to President Muizzu on his successful inauguration, expressing confidence that the relationship between the two nations would further strengthen during the current presidential term. She conveyed warm greetings and well wishes from the President of China, Xi Jinping.

Maldivian President Resolves to Strengthen Ties with China

During the discussions, President Muizzu expressed gratitude to the Government of China for its continuous contributions to the socio-economic development of the Maldives over the years. He characterized the present moment as the beginning of a new chapter in the shared historic friendship between the Maldives and China.

The President also conveyed his confidence in sustained collaboration in areas of mutual interest, encompassing regional cooperation, economic partnerships, and enhanced people-to-people engagement.

President Dr Muizzu reiterated his unwavering commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and China, emphasizing the shared goals and interests that bind the two nations.
