CJCsSC Gen Sahir Shamshad Visits China to Strengthen Defence Cooperation: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCsSC), is leading a high-level Pakistani delegation to China to hold talks with top generals of the People’s Liberation Army, to strengthen defence ties.

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said General Sahir Shamshad embarked on a five-days China visit as head of delegation for Pakistan-China Defence and Security Talks.

During the visit from 18 to June 22, CJCsSC interacted with the Chinese Chief of Joint Staff Department, General Liu Zhenli and both sides reviewed ongoing bilateral defence cooperation, as stated by the ISPR.

Friendship Between China and Pakistan

Emphasizing the deep-rooted and highly valued friendship between Pakistan and China, the CJCsSC reiterated that the relationship between the two nations not only withstood the test of time but also witnessed significant advancements in defense collaboration and training. He expressed gratitude for the enduring support of the Chinese people, stating that Pakistan-China military relations have reached new heights.

In addition to the meeting with General Liu Zhenli, the CJCsSC held extensive bilateral discussions with prominent civil and military dignitaries during his visit. These included Mr. Qin Gang, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, as well as Mr. Chen Wenqing, among other key military and government officials, ISPR said.

The meetings between the Pakistani and Chinese officials reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to their long-standing alliance, often referred to as “Iron Brothers” and “All Weather Friends.” The leaders vowed to strengthen and deepen their strategic ties, emphasizing mutual cooperation and shared interests.
