KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has sought the European Union for two new projects aimed at helping those affected by the flash flood in 2022.

In a meeting with EU Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka, CM Sindh briefed her on two new projects aimed at helping flood-hit people, a local news channel reported.

One project involved the reconstruction of school buildings damaged by the devastating flood, while the other project aimed to provide solar panels to people living off-grid.

During a meeting, the chief minister mentioned that heavy floods in 2022 had damaged twenty thousand out of forty thousand school buildings, causing serious issues in imparting education to children. He expressed his intention to seek assistance from donor agencies to construct new school buildings.

The ambassador assured CM Sindh that she would discuss this matter with European authorities to help resolve the problem.

Another issue discussed during the meeting was the provision of solar panels to those living off-grid and in remote areas.

The Chief Minister said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had promised to provide solar panels to those in need as part of his election manifesto.

Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka expressed her support for the project and assured the chief minister to help achieve the objectives.
