Weather Update: Cold, Dry Weather Likely in Most Plain Areas of Country: PMD

ISLAMABAD: The majority of plain areas in the country are anticipated to experience mainly cold and dry weather in the next twelve hours, with particularly frigid conditions in the northern regions. Meanwhile, isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan may witness partly cloudy weather accompanied by rain/snowfall over mountains. Dense fog and smog are expected to persist in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh. In the Pothohar region, frost is likely to occur at a few places during the morning hours.

The recorded temperatures in major cities this morning are as follows:

  • Islamabad and Murree: 2°C
  • Lahore: 6°C
  • Karachi: 18°C
  • Peshawar: 4°C
  • Quetta and Muzafarabad: 3°C
  • Gilgit: -3°C

In the forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula are expected to have very cold and dry weather, while Jammu is likely to experience cold weather with dense fog. The morning temperatures recorded are as follows:

  • Srinagar, Shopian, and Baramula: -2°C
  • Jammu: 4°C
  • Leh: -7°C
  • Pulwama and Anantnag: -3°C
