RAWALPINDI: General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, Commander Turkish Land Forces on Monday called on General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at General Headquarters, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed, ISPR stated. Both sides expressed satisfaction over deep-rooted relations between the two countries, based on historic, cultural and religious affinity. During the meeting, the COAS emphasized the need to further strengthen existing military-to-military cooperation between the two Armed Forces, ISPR stated.
The visiting dignitary appreciated the role of the Pakistan Army in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, Commander Turkish Land Forces laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument). A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
