ISLAMABAD: The Commonwealth Observer Group, headed by its chairman Goodluck Jonathan, called on Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in Islamabad on Monday.
The Chief Election Commissioner welcomed the Commonwealth Observer Group and appreciated the Commonwealth Secretariat for sending a 15-member group along with a 9-member support team to Pakistan to observe the general elections.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Pakistan has adopted an open-door policy for international observers, and for this purpose, more than one hundred accreditation cards have been issued.
Chief Election Commissioner Briefs Observer Group
The Chief Election Commissioner briefed the observer group about the polls process and the preparations of the commission for its conduct.
The chairman of the observer group commended the commission’s preparations for the peaceful conduct of the polls.
